Parker is home to Southfork Ranch on Hogge Road, the ranch from the TV series "Dallas" and one of the best-known addresses in Collin County. The city also keeps City Park & Preserve, with a trail along Maxwell Creek, an 1847 barn and the ruins of William C. Parker's cotton gin.

Parker incorporated in 1969 and is named for William C. Parker. Its code has required lots created after Jan. 1, 1999 to be at least two acres, which is a big part of why Parker still feels open between Plano, Allen, Murphy and Lucas.
